For decades, professional drummer Mike Ricciardella has been the driving force behind many bands. His speed, power, and outstanding skill has astonished many. He co-founded THE ILLUSION, and hooking up with legendary songwriter and producer Jeff Barry, The Illusion would score a top 20 hit single and three hit albums on Steed Records. (These have been re-released on CD). Later on, Mike formed an alliance with Tommy Mottola and Champion Entertainment. Under Mottola’s guidance, Mike would go on to write and produce several albums, the first of which was WIGGY BITS (on Polydor Records). Mike’s next album was NETWORK, on Epic Records, and was produced by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees. Network would then do a U.S. Tour with Hall and Oates. Network’s second album,”Nightwork” has recently been re-released in Europe, and is selling well in Europe and Japan. Mike’s next project, on RCA, was AVIATOR, produced by Neil Kernon with co-writer, singer and guitarist Ernie White. The album was a big hit in the European market and has also recently been re-released. Mike is also working on a new drum book and has recently teamed up with the GMS Drum Company.
A couple of years ago Mike was one of 500 Drummers, alongside such greats as Ginger Baker, Nigel Olsson and Louie Bellson, from around the world featured in a book titled “Sticks ‘n Skins”. It’s a must have book for any drumming enthusiast.
This past October 2012, he was inducted along with his Barnaby Bye band mates Peppy Castro and Billy & Bobby Alessi into The Long Island Music Hall of Fame. Other greats include Billy Joel, Carole King and Blue Oyster Cult to name just a few.
